Profile
Group Name : 2NE1
Origin : Seoul, South Korea
Genres : K-pop, hip-hop, R&B, Electronic, Dance
Years active : 2009–present
Labels : YG Entertainment, Avex Group
Members : CL, Dara, Bom, Minzy
2ne1 is a new South Korean female girl group created by YG entertainment. Originally called “21,” the band has since made some new changes to their name. The 21 in the group’s name references the 21st century, while the “ne” of their name stands for New Evolution. The name change was due to a male Korean singer already using the name 21. This band was created by YG to be a female counterpart to their highly successful male pop group, Big Bang.
2ne1 is composed of four different members, Sandara Park, Park Bom (Jenny Park), Kong Min Ji, and Chae Lee (CL or Faith Lee). Unlike most girl bands, 2ne1 has a large variation in age with Sandara Park and Park Bom both being 24 and 25 years old respectively, while Kong Min Ji and Chae Lee are both teenagers at 15 and 19 respectively.
2ne1 released a digital single entitled “Lollipop” with Big Bang on March 26th, 2009. The single was meant to be a promotion for the new Lollipop mobile phones released by LG Cyon. The music video was released on April 3rd, 2009.
Musical styles
In 2NE1′s debut extended play 2NE1, the group was noted for a distinct style. “Lollipop” is noted for it’s strong pop feel, while debut single “Fire” is predominately categorized as hip hop. “I Don’t Care,” however, was intended as a song with a reggae feel.
Their comeback album, To Anyone, was marked by a strong shift into electronic music. “Go Away”, the most successful promotional single from the album, is classified as dance. However, songs like “It Hurts (Slow)” are R&B, a style that characterized their first EP. The three title tracks, “Clap Your Hands,” “Go Away,” and “Can’t Nobody” were noted for their lasting impressions, as they topped music charts weeks after release.
Thematically, 2NE1′s music expresses the feelings of independence and female empowerment. Songs like “Go Away” and “I Don’t Care” reflect this theme of their music.
Image
2NE1 is known for a “unique and edgier style”. During their debut single, the group was noted for being “hip hop warriors,” but changed this perception with “I Don’t Care” into strong, feminine women. During the “It Hurts (Slow)” music video, the members were noted for their gothic, black attire and strange hair and wigs. In addition, the members have also been known for having a unique femininity and cuteness. They are also known for being international stars as part of the Hallyu, or Korean Wave.

IFE DEPENDED ON IT !!!“.

But in the end Girls’ Generation took 1st place on the poll with over 51,000 votes (42.6%) while 2NE1 came in second with over 47,000 votes (39.5%).

In response, the designer expressed his disappointment and tried to console himself and fellow Blackjacks by mentioning that as there are more members in Girls’ Generation, it is more likely that they are able to obtain more votes.

Jeremy Scott’s strong support for 2NE1 is not new as they have built their close-knit relationship collaborating with one another for various events with the designer even creating outfits for the girls’ first world tour.
